My Favorite Things about Palmetto Dunes…

Let’s begin with the spectacular beach! The community of Palmetto Dunes fronts on 3 miles of some of the most beautiful beaches in the southeast. What a great place to hang out all year. Many locals prefer the winter beach, but more on that another time.

The 11 mile lagoon system winds in and out of the golf courses and provides many homes with private docks. In addition to being an added recreational feature, the waterway offers some spectacular views, enhances the natural habitat, and insures a light and bright feeling throughout the area.

There is a type of real estate property for everyone! Vacation rental villas and homes, second homes, and a variety of primary residences abound. Palmetto Dunes is the only resort community with a separate private residential community. Leamington appeals to full time residents and second home owners who desire a residential feeling. It also boasts a private beach club where locals favor bikes and golf carts for an easy ride to the beach.

Shelter Cove features a marina, many water activities, restaurants, and shopping in specialty shops and boutiques. To insure residents and guests on both sides of Highway 278 have full access to the Palmetto Dunes amenities and the Shelter Cove activities, the Dunes Buggy offers free transportation from one area to the other.

Golf, golf, and more golf are available on the three championship courses. While members can enjoy men’s and women’s golf groups through the Palmetto Dunes Club, the courses are not private making annual fees very affordable for owners. Since there are only two golf holes on Hilton Head Island that face the ocean, it is important to mention that the Robert Trent Jones Course has one of them.

You couldn’t find a more complete tennis program than at the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center. Tennis Magazine has rated it among the 50 best in the U.S. Lessons, team play, exhibitions, and all forms of social tennis are readily available on the center’s 23 clay and 2 hard tennis courts.

The marina will capture the fishermen’s and yachtsmen’s attention with its 170 slips that will accommodate boats up to 135’ in length. It is quite special to have this much boating opportunity within a community that also has its own beach.

The fees are quite low in Palmetto Dunes. This is important to buyers who wish to choose the activities that interest them most and only pay for the ones they are using.

The community’s location offers great access to cultural events, fine dining, churches, and lots of activities. Just minutes from everything, visitors and owners can enjoy the best of the island lifestyle.

No matter what your goals are in purchasing real estate on Hilton Head, Palmetto Dunes is a “must consider”.
