The beach at Hampton Lake

The featured community this month, Hampton Lake, provides a great opportunity to enjoy life on the water, affordably.  Originally designed to include a golf course, the development team had a vision of creating something different that would appeal to a different type of buyer.  The planned golf course became a 182-acre freshwater private lake with 15 miles of shoreline.

Starting from scratch, they brought in the best designers of lakes, Don Keller and Barry Smith of American Sportfish.  These men have designed lakes for former presidents, Disney and many others.  The primary goals were to create a habitat underwater that would ensure great water quality and good, safe fishing.  Both were accomplished.

Casual, fun, social, and relaxing were just some of the words front and center in the planning.  In that, they were successful.  The atmosphere at Backwater Bill’s is casual.  Members like that it has spectacular views of the lake and is denim friendly.  They enjoy great food prepared by Downtown Catering Company, a regional favorite.  With locally sourced and farm fresh ingredients, a farm to table menu is sure to please.

The light-hearted atmosphere is inviting at every location in the Lakeside Amenity Village.  While an easy drive to island beaches, residents can enjoy the sun and sand in their own club at Sandi Point Beach on the lake.  A lazy river pool is a winning ticket to ensure children and grandchildren will visit frequently.  The adult pool area is ideal for those who prefer a quiet, relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a good book, take a swim, or catch an afternoon nap in a shady spot.

Getting the most out of life is a priority at Hampton Lake and keeping in shape is an important factor.  The fitness center overlooks the lake, so the time might pass quickly while working out and enjoying the view.   A variety of classes are offered daily – finding a few favorites should be easy.  With 6 treatment rooms in the associated spa, owners can rejuvenate and enjoy a wide array of services, without leaving the neighborhood.

If tennis is your racquet, there are tennis courts available for some friendly competition.  Pickleball enthusiasts are also covered.  If you love to boat and fish, Doc’s Boathouse will help you with all your fishing needs.  Community boats can be rented, or you may prefer to own your own, if you are one of the fortunate residents with a private dock.  Kayaking is often considered the best way to explore the lake and kayaks are also available at the boathouse.

Not to be forgotten, your dog-buddy will enjoy life at Hampton Lake at one of the best dog parks anywhere.  Dogpaddle Park is fully enclosed and has drinking water and a handheld shower to cool off your pet on a hot day.  Needless to say, dogs enjoy socializing, too.

Nature abounds in Hampton Lake.  The nature preserve consists of 470-acres, waiting to be explored.  Nature trails and walkways, along with picnic areas and a nice pavilion, offer lots of options for entertaining visiting families or enjoying wildlife and flora on your daily walk.

The annual events will keep your social calendar full.  If there is any time left over, join one of the many clubs designed to cover a wide range of activities and to help you meet friends with similar interests.  Old Town Bluffton is a short 10-minute drive, while historic Savannah and Hilton Head island are less than a half hour away.

More development is underway in the Crystal Lake area, another 400-lake park that will enhance the amenities.  Paddle boarding is sure to be a favorite lake activity.  This area will be easily accessed with the completion of a new main gate on Bluffton Parkway planned for later this year.

Making the right decision about the community is usually the most important one.  We are very blessed here in the Lowcountry to offer something for everyone.  Let me know if you would like to come and discover Hampton Lake for yourself.  I can assist you with the arrangements.
