1995 Del Webb brought their Sun City 55+ active adult community to the South Carolina Lowcountry. Built on over 5,000 acres and now featuring more than 14,000 residents, Sun City Hilton Head truly features something for everyone. It begins with the 45-acre Village Center that includes the Pinckney Social Hall, the Yemassee Crafts Center, the Purrysburg Fitness Center, and the Magnolia Hall Performing Arts Center. In these facilities the residents enjoy social gatherings, concerts, dances, lectures, workshops, theatrical performances, and much, much more.

Along with these indoor activities, there are also many outdoor facilities and activities for Sun City residents. The community features not one, not two, but three golf courses. Sun City Hilton Head is located on both sides of Highway 278, one side in Beaufort County and the other in Jasper County. With added venues to accommodate the newer residents, there are now three fitness centers and four outdoor and two indoor pools. Health and wellness are a top priority here.

Riverbend is an upscale larger home community that is also under the Sun City umbrella. It is a river front community with full access to the diverse activities and clubs of Sun City.

The wide range of activities is only surpassed by the real estate options available. Properties include everything from 1,000 square foot townhomes and villas to 4,000+ square foot custom built homes. Property vistas are also varied and include waterfront, wooded, golf course, lagoon and lake views.

Oddly enough, Sun City Hilton Head is not located on Hilton Head Island. Instead, it’s located about 13 miles west in the town of Bluffton. This makes it convenient to the beaches and amenities of the Island without contending with the seasonal tourist traffic. But Sun City is located close to several shops, restaurants and services adjacent to the community that are readily accessible by golf cart or car.
